Project H.A.P.P.Y. brings together junior high
and high school students to educate them on the dangers of what high risk
use in alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs are. H.A.P.P.Y. also teaches
them the necessary skills needed in making informed decisions, and to offer
them activities and ideas for healthy alternatives to alcohol and other drug
use. By participating in this Program they see there are other persons
equally committed to being drug free, and there are many adults who care
about them and want to help them stay drug free. H.A.P.P.Y. Clubs meet
regularly at all middle schools in Findlay and Hancock County throughout the
school year. These clubs convene in November every year for Project
H.A.P.P.Y. Weekend, a 2-day retreat of learning, games, drama performances,
a dance, and building relationships with new friends. The aim of HAPPY
Weekend is to show students that they can not only deal with the pressures
of life, but have fun and excel without the use of any mind-altering
substance.
