Who is Paragon? |
|
|
As the children's story is told, the only difference between the pigs who built their houses out of straw and twigs and the one who used brick was that the third pig took prevention very seriously. It was no surprise to any of the three that there was a wolf in the forest. The wolf was there and the pigs knew it. Maybe the first two thought the wolf would never come calling on them. Or maybe they thought that even if he did, what they had built would be enough to keep them safe. But only one took an honest look at the threat, understood it and made sure the structure would withstand the assault. Paragon is Hancock County's mascot for prevention. Paragon is defined as a "model of excellence". It is our goal to make Hancock County a model of excellence in preventing the abuse of illegal drugs and the misuse of legal drugs while increasing positive mental health. Alcohol, drug abuse and mental health problems are issues in Findlay and Hancock County, just as they are throughout the country. The issues are here and we know it. Through initiatives like Alcohol Awareness Month (April), Mental Health Month (May), Recovery Month (September), and the Red Ribbon Celebration (October) the Community Partnership provides the tools of awareness, education and training so that individuals can build a healthy lifestyle. |
